Colon Cancer Spread to Liver

So pleased to find this group. I need to share and ask for advice.

I was diagnosed with colon cancer in September. I had bowel surgery to remove the tumour in November. Cancer has spread to my liver. Surgery on the liver has been ruled out because of its shape and size.

I am now on chemo, the stop-start approach, 2nd of 4 sessions. I’m on Oxaliplatin and Capecitabine. During my last conversation with my consultant I was told I had about two years with chemo (six months without). It was a shock, as I had hoped for longer.

I am very much in the dark about what other treatments may be available for the liver. Any help, advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community and I hope you'll find it an informative and supportive place.

I can see that you've already joined the secondary liver cancer group which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support from others with this type of cancer. Can I also suggest that you think about joining the bowel cancer group and maybe also the living with incurable cancer group.

If you'd like to join these other groups just click on the links I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
