I had grade 2 ER, PR and HER2 positive triple positive breast cancer. After chemo I had a lumpectomy and my surgeon told me it hadn’t gone into lymph nodes or glands and I was cancer free. Yeah. However next day my oncologist told me she was advising further chemo to prevent reoccurrence rather than the herceptin I was expecting apparently there’s been a trial and this is more effective. I can’t stand the thought of more chemo which will be to October. Anyone else in this situation.
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community
I'm sorry to read about your situation but I hope you'll find the online community an informative and supportive place.
As it's divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer group which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support from others with this type of cancer.
To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help

I haven’t started any treatment yet. I initially opted not to go down chemo route as it would be 12 rounds of Trastuzumab emtansine. At the moment I’m booked for herceptin next week but my oncologist seems to be pushing chemo. Anastrozole info was given to me but I’m not sure if I have to have all or a combination. I’m waiting to speak to a nurse for clarification.
Hi sorry, thought it read you had chemo and herceptin. Have you had surgery, lumpectomy and has the consultant advised chemo and herceptin after. Best wishes xx
Hi to have herceptin you have to have it with chemo. I have had 3 x ec chemo every 3 weeks, then now on weekly paclitaxel with herceptin every 3 weeks. The herceptin will continue when I have finished my chemo xx
