He was my best friend but also my ex husband. He was the kindest person I ever knew. The huge hole he has left behind has swallowed me up. He was diagnosed in October 2021 with pancreatic cancer which had spread to his liver and lymph nodes. He died on 30th November.  I remarried after our divorce. When my second husband died due to a brain tumour my ex was amazing. He was a huge help practically and emotionally. It helped so much and we became great friends. Other people said recently that they thought we were going to get back together but that was never on the cards. Two days before he died when all his family (and me) were there he spoke to us all and he said he still loved me. I am heartbroken. We had a daughter who is now 34. We are supporting each other and thankfully I moved house 6 months ago to be nearer to both my son (from my second marriage) and my daughter.

  • Hi and a warm welcome to the online community

I'm so sorry to read about the recent death of your friend/ex-husband. It sounds like he was a wonderfully, supportive person.

As the online community is divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join the bereaved family and friends group which is for anyone who has lost a family member or friend to cancer to share their feelings and support one another.

To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
