My husband Barry was diagnosed with Stage 4 Prostate cancer just as Covid arrived. He is on a trial and thankfully doing well on chemo tablets that have stopped it spreading.
Unfortunately last Christmas Eve he fell in our garden and broke his femur, had a pin put through it, suffered a blood clot and has really been through it, and for some reason the break isn’t healing and he is still on crutches. Before this we used to visit our sons Spanish apartment about Four times a year, staying for weeks at a time. We miss it so much but our two sons would like to take us out there, for about 4 days ,possibly one last time, as couldn’t manage on our own now as I need a wheelchair too as can’t walk to far now.. Trouble is the insurance is so expensive when we fill in medical conditions.
Hi and welcome to the online community
A holiday to Spain with your sons sounds lovely but unfortunately, as you've found, it's harder to find reasonably priced travel insurance when you've had a cancer diagnosis.
As the online community is divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join us over in the travel insurance group where you can find recommendations from others who have successfully obtained travel insurance that doesn't cost more than the holiday!
To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
When you feel ready, it would be great if you could pop something about your husband's diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
