Erm not sure where to begin.
Was referred to gynae about 5 months ago. Symptoms - continuous vaginal bleeding, clots, pain, bloating. Had blood tests & scans in between waiting. Was told my hormone markers were out. Finally had a consultation 3 weeks ago and have been referred for an urgent biopsy.
Rang to chase them but told I'm on waiting list and an appt will be sent as soon as possible.
Saw my mum through endometrial cancer 3 years ago. Her symptoms were very similar to mine and they missed her one for over a year! so naturally I'm freaking out :(
Anyone know how long for an urgent biopsy appt at the moment?
Hi and a very warm welcome to the Online Community although I see you have posted a few years back.
I am so sorry to hear about your ongoing diagnosis. This is such a challenging and stressful time for you but I do hope you find the community a safe place to get support and ask your questions.
The New to Community is like our reception desk where we can signpost you to our various cancer specific support groups and other services and as each cancer type has a different journey you may find it helpful to join our supportive Womb (uterus) cancer group. This will be a safe place to talk to others who may have a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.
If you'd like to connect in with a group, you do need to join the group. Click on the Green link I have created above. Then once the page opens click on the black banner that says [click to join] at the bottom, or the [Join] button under "Group tools."
You can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘new post’ by clicking in the box near the top right with + New (Computers) or + (Mobile Devices). You will then see a dropdown menu so hit ‘Chat’ or ‘Start a Discussion in New here, say hello’ and you are ready to go.
You could copy and paste the text from this your first post. You can also search through existing ‘Discussions’ and click [reply] if you want to put up a comment.
The Macmillan Support Line is open 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00 or via Webchat and Email too. This service provides cancer information, emotional support, benefits/financial guidance or just a listening ear. You may also find our Ask an Expert section helpful but do allow a few working days for a reply.
Always around if you need further help in navigating the community.
All the very best ((hugs))
Hi Mazywazy (like the name!)
The wait is horrendous isn’t it. I like you was referred to gynae, I was back end of September, had ultrasound October. I am still waiting for clarification on what I have. Click on my profile for clearer picture.
I totally get why you are freaking out, especially with your mums history. I am not sure if Covid has a part to play in the delay for appointments etc but a day waiting is like a week. I’m sure my postman thinks I am stalking them.
Hopefully someone can come along and let you know how long they waited for an urgent biopsy like yours.
Ann

Thankyou Mike for the warm welcome & link :)
Thankyou Ann. Sorry to hear your in same boat. Yes I suspect Covid has a lot to do with delay. I remember with my mum they said they had 28 days to ensure diagnosis & treatment plan was in place. Not the case now though
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
