Hello everyone
Firstly thank God for groups of support like this one. I am stressed beyond belief at my mum's diagnosis but remaining positive after reading some of the stories on this forum.
On Wednesday my mum was diagnosed with widespread cancer of the lungs, spine and hip. She has been told that it is treatable but not curable. She is awaiting a further MRI scan on her spine as this is their main area of concern. A team of oncologists will meet once she has had her scan. She was discharged from hospital on Saturday without any further information about treatment options or anything and without yet receiving her scan. She has tonight been admitted back to hospital as she is in a lot of pain. I am hoping this will now fast track her MRI scan.
The not knowing is unbearable. Me and my younger sister are trying so hard to stay positive but it's so hard. She battled breast cancer in 2015 so we know she is a fighter but when it's your mum, it's just so difficult!
We are clinging onto the hope that they said she will receive intensive treatment. That has to be a positive right? They haven't used the word terminal which is a relief. I think hearing that it is in so many places has filled us with fear. We need answers and need to know what the future holds. I am desperate to hear that she can live for many years and lead a relatively normal life. I need to hear that!
I am hoping that her being back in hospital will speed things up and give us some answers.
Here's to staying positive x

Hi Donna and a very warm welcome to the online community
I'm sorry to read about your mum's recent diagnosis and it's natural to be anxious about what's happening next.
As the online community is divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join the lung cancer group which is a great place to ask questions and share experiences about this type of cancer and it's treatment. Can I also recommend that you join the family and friends group which is a safe and supportive place to share your worries and emotions.
To join these groups just click on the links I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could pop something about your mum's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
x
