Hi I was diagnosed with stage 4 oesophageal cancer in July 2021.Firstly they offered me an intense course of Chemo followed by chemo and targeted radiotherapy, after the first chemo they had to stop as I was not eating or drinking much toxins built up in my kidney's and they were damaged they will never recover full function I was hospitalised for a week a stent was fitted so not a good start.
My chem was changed to Capox but again toxins built up and back in hospital missing my 2nd session I seem to have a problem with low magnesium despite eating as much magnesium rich food as I can. I have now managed 3 sessions with a scan after my fourth, my worry is my stent that has now been in nearly 4 months the skin will have grown over and it won't be able to be removed for radiotherapy . Does any body now as I can't seem to get an answer, Sorry if it sounds a bit of a ramble.
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community
I'm sorry to read about the problems you're having at the moment but you've joined the right community to share experiences with others who are in a similar position.
As the online community is divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join and post in the oesophageal cancer group which is a great place to ask your question, share experiences and get support.
To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
