Hi everyone , I'm a first time user. I was diagnosed with Breast cancer early October and began chemotherapy within 3 weeks. It's just myself and my Daughter at home. Family and friends wont come to my house as they're worried they might give me a cold, flu or worse covid. I understand this but the lonliness has now gotten too much for me. The only people I see are the hospital staff , my Daughter and her Boyfriend. I'm incredibly sad and I feel like a leper, I cant cope with this much longer. My last chemotherapy is 9th February. Please advise
Hi AngelaT211and welcome to the Online Community although I am so sorry to hear about your diagnosis, this is such a hard time for you and all the family and I do understand why family and friends are staying away as any infections could delay treatment but I do hope you will find lots of support and comfort here on the Online Community.
Having people visiting is all about risk assessing and ensuring that good health monitoring is done when people do visit, open the windows, go for a walk it's all possible and indeed when I had no immune system for 2 years (before covid) any infect could have been dangerous but we did have folks round..... your mental welfare is vey important so do talk this through with your family and finds and see if you can find a way forward.
The New to Community is like our reception desk where we can signpost you to our various support groups and services so can I recommend you join our Breast cancer group. This will be a safe place to talk to others who may have a similar diagnosis, treatment experience or just to chat with others on the same journey.
If you'd like to connect in with a group, you need to join the group. First click on the Green link I have created above. Then once the page opens click on the black banner that says [click to join] at the bottom, or the [Join] button under "Group tools."
You can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘new post’ by clicking in the box near the top right with + New (Computers) or + (Mobile Devices). You will then see a dropdown menu so hit ‘Start a Discussion in New here, say hello’ and you are ready to go.
You could copy and paste the text from this your first post. You can also search through existing ‘Discussions’ and click [reply] if you want to put up a comment.
