I am a relatively new member to the group. I joined to find support from others who have had similar experiences to me.  I lost my 19 year old son to an aggressive stage 4 brain tumour only 3 weeks after he was diagnosed.  He underwent emergency surgery and wasn't expected to make it through.  Incredibly he did and came back to be able to communicate and respond to us, tell us he loved us, made us laugh and cry for those few weeks. We were told at the time it was not curable and we knew it was always destined to take him.  Those few weeks were precious.  He was a fit and healthy sporty football loving young man taken from us far too soon.  There are so many incredible treatments and cures for this cruel disease and for all those diagnosed be strong and find comfort in the treatments available to you.

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community although I am so sorry to read about the lose of your son, my sincere condolences. I can not even imagine the heartache this can bring but I do hope you will find lots of support and comfort here on the Online Community.

The New to Community is like our reception desk where we can signpost you to our various support groups and services, but I do see you have joined and posted in our Bereaved family and friends group. This will be a safe place to talk to others who may be navigating the same journey.

The Macmillan Support Line is open 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00 or via web chat. This service provides emotional support, benefits and financial guidance or just a listening ear.

Talking to people face to face can indeed help a lot but during these strange times it’s not that available but do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area has opened up. Do also check out for a local Maggie's Centre in your area as the Maggie’s Teams do provide cancer bereavement support.

Always around if you need further help in navigating the community.

All the very very best ((hugs))
