Hi, I discovered a hard pea sized lump in my left armpit, I had an ultrasound and was told I had normal reactive lymph nodes, this was back in May 21.
it's now December and it's still the same. I have kept a check on it and it has never gone.
Should I still be concerned? I have drenching night sweats for some time along with tiredness and itchy skin particularly my legs which is often worse at night. As I am 42 the sweats have been put down to Peri-menopause although I am not now convinced. I haven't lost weight in fact I have gained a little and have regular upset tummies which I put down to my IBS.
I have unexplained low kidney function (gfr between 50-60) and am under the care of a nephrologist.
I understand I am probably over anxious, but I tick the boxes, I wondered if I should push for a biopsy?
any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
Hi Taylor04 and I see you have posted in the Community before but I am sorry to hear about the challenges you are facing at the moment.
I am Mike Thehighlander and I help out around our various Lymphoma groups. I was diagnosed in 1999 with a rare, incurable but treatable type of Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Stage 4a so know this journey rather well.
I am over 5 years in remission and I have a pea sized lump in my neck but I am cancer free at the moment, I have been checked out and the lump is just a fatty lump….. so your lump could be anything as does the other systems you are having.
The only people who can check you out is your medical professionals and for a clear picture a referral to Heamatology would help rule out lymphoma. Lymphoma can only be diagnosed through a biopsy and CT/PET Scan….. on the whole blood tests will not say anything apart from a need to look further….. I have never had a blood test that points to my Lymphoma.
For good up to date information do check out lymphoma-action.org.uk/about-lymphoma a small but very active UK Lymphoma Specific Charity who have lots of good information.
Happy to talk more.
Thank you for your reply. I think for my own sanity I will push for a biopsy with it being the only way to rule it out.
I have a telephone consult this week.
I do hope that there is a simple answer to this.
