Just joined as my hubby has recently been diagnosed with kidney cancer. He had one kidney removed 30 years ago and some stray cells that have been laying dormant all this time appear to have woken up. He's just started treatment and this is a new journey we have found ourselves on. I'm wanting to be a strong support to him but may need a little help/encouragement in that department at some point. Thanks for listening.

  • Hi and a warm welcome to the online community

I'm very sorry to read that your husband's kidney cancer has returned 30 years later. That must have been quite a shock to you both.

As you know the online community is divided up into different support groups and I can see that you've already joined the kidney cancer group which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support. When you feel ready to post there clicking on my link will take you straight there where you can start a new post and introduce yourself in the same way as you did here.

You might also find it helpful to join the carers only group which is a safe and supportive place to share your worries and emotions with others who have a loved one living with cancer. If you'd like to do that just click on the link I've created and then join in the same was as you did the kidney cancer group.

It would be great if you could pop something about your husband's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
