Hi, I'm Karen, just registered today. Worried about my brother who got his test results back today. Stage 4 low risk lymphoma?? How is stage 4 low risk? Anyway, starts chemo next week. He doesn't want to tell our elderly parents as he's worried about them.  But when he starts chemo he may not be able to hide this? How did you guys tell elderly relatives? I don't know how best to support him. Thanks for listening. X

  • Hi Karen  and welcome to this corner of the Community although always sorry to see folks joining us. I am Mike  and II help out around our various Lymphoma groups.

I was diagnosed in 1999 with a rare, incurable but treatable type of Low Grade Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Stage 4a so I have experienced ‘the’ treatment journey but not necessarily the exact same drug mix.

The New to Community area is like our reception where we can signpost our many dedicated support groups and services so can I recommend you start by joining our Non-Hodgkin lymphoma group. This is a safe place to talk to other people who may have a similar diagnosis or treatment experience.

If you'd like to connect in with a group, you need to join the group. First click on the Green link I have created above. Then once the page opens click on the black banner that says [click to join] at the bottom, or the [Joinbutton under "Group tools."

You can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘new post’ by clicking in the box near the top right with + New (Computers) or + (Mobile Devices). You will then see a dropdown menu so hit ‘Start a Discussion in New here, say hello’ and you are ready to go.

You could copy and paste the text from this your first post. You can also search through existing ‘Discussions’ and click [reply] if you want to put up a comment.

You will have to get your head Roy d the fact that staging in NHL is completely different compared to solid tumour cancer where stage 4 was not good news but in NHL it’s a guid to where it’s presenting snd what treatment is required.

I will keep an eye open for you in the group as this would be the best place to get support.
