Hi all,

Cannot believe I’m writing on here. I’m Sarah and I’m 33 and last week everything was normal and now it’s not. My partner spotted a completely black mole on my back when I was getting undressed so I called the doctor to get it checked as don’t remember it ever being there. He referred me to the hospital and within 3 days I have been seen- impressed with the speedy booking however also made me extremely anxious!
Today I went not knowing what to expect and 3 consultants ended up looking at this mole on my back and have said I need to have surgery to remove it and to perform a biopsy which is booked in on the 12th January. Was told it could be skin cancer but didn’t really give any reassurance that it also might not be. Was also told that it will take 10 weeks for results to come back from the lab which is a excruciating long time to have to wait my fate but am aware that it’s most likely due to covid and cannot be helped. Finding myself now looking at all my moles, and scanning these pages which has helped read other peoples stories.
Am just looking for reassurance/ support from others who have been or am in this situation. Would be lovely to chat to  someone x

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community although so sorry to hear about you having to get a biopsy done, this mst have been such a shock but I do hope you will find lots of comfort and support here on the Online Community.

The New to Community area is like our reception where we can signpost our many dedicated support groups and services but I do see that you have joined our Skin cancer group. This is a safe place to talk to other people who may have a similar diagnosis or treatment experience.

If you'd like to connect in with a group click on the Green link I have created above. Then you can introduce yourself by putting up a ‘new post’ by clicking in the box near the top right with + New (Computers) or + (Mobile Devices). You will then see a dropdown menu so hit Start a Discussion in New here, say hello’ and you are ready to go.

You could copy and paste the text from this your first post. You can also search through existing ‘Discussions’ and click [reply] if you want to put up a comment.

The Macmillan Support Line is open 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00 or via web chat. This service provides cancer information, emotional support, benefits and financial guidance or just a listening ear.

To find information covering diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers check our Online Information and Support Section

Talking to people face to face can indeed help a lot but during these strange times it’s not that available but do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area has opened up. Do also check out for a local Maggie's Centre in your area.

Always around if you need further help in navigating the community.

    All the very best ((hugs))
