I was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2002, I had a lumpectomy and radiotherapy. This was very hard as I was only 34 at the time. I was then diagnosed in 2016 and I had a single mastectomy no further treatment was needed.
I was offered reconstruction in 2018 which I had & it was great as I had struggled with my mastectomy.
my reconstructed breast was slightly smaller so the surgeon offer to make my breast symmetrical. This was delayed because of covid but I finally had it done in May this year.
I was asked to see the surgeon who done my operation in June and thought this was just a check up but they had found cancer in my breast that they took away.
I threw my self back into work and carried on as normal until I had the op in September. I had a mastectomy & reconstruction all at the same time. I’m recovering well physically but not quite sure mentally.

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

It sounds like you've been through a lot over the years but you've joined the right community for support.

As you know the online community is divided up into different support groups and I can see that you've already joined and posted in the breast cancer group which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support.

It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
