Morning. Am reaching out as I feel quite overwhelmed today. Am trying to get as much information as I can so I can prepare us for what's next. I guess research and getting info is part of my way of gaining comfort to have an idea of what's ahead.
My husband has prostate cancer and has been watchful waiting for 10 years+. Now, after MRI and two biopsies he has a date for a radical prostatectomy - ie removal of prostate and some vessels and ?nerves - just before Xmas. Whilst we are glad that his op is happening sooner rather than later, as waiting between PSAs and appointments can be difficult, the unknown of what we need to help him and me cope with aftermath is at the moment worrying us.
I will post specific questions in prostate cancer group as this is more relevant. But sending best wishes to everyone who feels worried, confused and trying to be strong for their family.

Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community
As you know the online community is divided up into different support groups and I can see that you've already joined the prostate cancer group which is a great place to ask your question about what you need for after your husband's operation.
You might also like to join the carers only group which is a safe and supportive place to discuss your worries and emotions with other carers who will be happy to share their coping techniques with you.
To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'. To save you typing this all out again you could just copy and paste it into your new post.
It would be great if you could pop something about your husband's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
