This is my first post on here and I am looking for peoples experiences with a double mastectomy and reconstruction.
I am due to finish my chemo in January and have my surgery in February. I met with my surgeon today and have started to go through the options of implants and using my own fat and muscle. I am not very big and they do not think I would have enough fat on my tummy to reconstruct both breasts to a D cup so suggested meeting with the plastic surgeon to find out more options and go through it further with them.
I have spent this evening reading through the booklet on implant reconstruction and own fat and muscle reconstruction.
I originally wanted to use my own fat but after reading the booklet I feel I am swaying more to the implants.
I am going to arrange to meet with some people that have been through the own tissue reconstruction to get their views.
If anyone has been through a double mastectomy I would be really interested to hear about your experiences.

As the online community is divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer group which is a great place to ask your question, share experiences and get support.
