This time last year i was starting chemo after having a lumpectomy and lymph nodes removed due to breast cancer, after 4 out of 6 rounds of chemo i had to stop treatment due to toxic kidneys, that was in March of this year. After a while i carried on with radiotherapy, then after recovery time and the ending of the lockdown in September this year i went for mammogram to be able to go back to my part time job and had the shock diagnosis of a mass in the same area, which results in me having to go back for more surgery Dec 15th.
Whilst all this was going on my husband collapsed at home and was taken to St Georges,he was in intensive care for 10 days this was in June of this year 2021,long story short,he survived but had the diagnosis of cancer in the gallbladder, treatable but not curable,he is now on palliative care here at home and im told in a roundabout way that he may not last past my surgery.
Thanks for reading its just good to get it out .. good luck everyone xxxx
Hi and a warm welcome to the Online Community although so sorry to hear about your husbands diagnosis and indeed the journey you are on, this is such a hard time for all the family but I do hope you will find lots of comfort and support from people who understand here on the Online Community.
The Online Community has many dedicated support groups so can I recommend you start by joining our Breast cancer group. This is a safe place to talk to other people who might have a similar diagnosis or treatment experience.
If you'd like to connect in with this group, you need to join the group. First click on the Green link I have created above. Then once the page opens up click on the black banner that says [click to join] at the bottom, or the [Join] button under "Group tools."
You can then introduce yourself by putting up a new post by clicking in the box near the top right with + New (Computers) or + (Mobile Devices). You will then see a dropdown menu so why not hit ‘Start a Discussion in New here, say hello’
You could copy and paste the text from this your first post. You can also search through existing ‘Discussions’ and click [reply] if you want to put up a comment.
When it comes to the practical challenges of supporting your husband you may benefit from joining our supportive Carers only and Supporting someone with incurable cancer groups where you will connect with others supporting family and friends
