A bit strange telling you all,  but here goes had jaundice back in late July,  never thought much about it, but also started with a what I can only describe as feeling like I was full of fleas scratching uncontrollable. I take antihistamines already but they just weren't working so I spoke to Gp, who decided I needed bloods taking, three lots later I'm having CT scans and MRI's and a trip into hospital. Oh you have a blockage in your bile duct, fine two days later I'm having a stent put in, fine I think, then a couple of hours later in the day sorry you have a tumour!! Me ok can I go home now.

A day later consultant rings see you soon we are going to do major surgery to your bile duct, ok I say,  see you after your holidays. So September arrives I go and have what I consider major ish surgery, tell nurses if I don't come round there's a letter in my bag for family, ( my last wishes) . I was scared shitless, I really thought I wouldn't make it. Surgery goes well, obviously cause I'm writing this, to be told its really strange but it was a melanoma, ok I know about melanoma I had it 10 years back it grows on the skin- had lymph nodes out everything was fine........ nope I have had little blitters running around and some had settled in my bile duct.

So last week see a Professor who decides that now I'm going to be having immunotherapy for 12 months, again I'm kinda worrying now about side effects (I do worry a lot) i have a couple of other health issues as well,  more scans both CT and MRI, just hope there aren't many little beggars having a party in my body.

I do have to add that my husband is going through treatment for prostrate cancer and had been diagnosed in May. So I'm generally allowed to worry, his diagnosis knocked us both for six, we have only been married three years,  his prognosis was bad and he thought that this was going to end him, he had to hear this on his own (covid), but now he's almost completed the chemo sessions,  two to go. So proud of him.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community

I'm sorry to read that your melanoma has recurred and it must have come as a tremendous shock for both you and your husband.

As the online community is divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join us over in the melanoma group which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support. You will find that quite a few of the group's members are currently on immunotherapy so joining will give you the chance to chat to them about their experiences while on this treatment.

You might also like to join the prostate cancer group so that you can connect with others who are either having treatment for this type of cancer or who have a loved one going through the treatment.

To join either or both of these groups just click on the links I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could pop something about you and your husband's diagnoses and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
