March this year my mum had a cough, we kept saying to make an appointment I will be fine was her answer
eventually she did make an appointment and over 2 months she was given antibiotics
in may she was not any better, had an xray then a scan. Which confirmed lung cancer
i have been told this is not curable or operable. Treatment only
in June my mum received her first of 4 sessions of chemo she was also taking steroids, these made her face balloon which she has found hard as she takes pride in her appearance.
she finished the 4th chemo and steroids 5 wks ago the treatment did shrink the tumour however it has taken its toll on my mum
since then she has been so tired and hardly eating
i am finding this so hard to cope with as I’m sure everyone will in this situation
Hi and welcome to the online community
I'm very sorry to read that your mum has recently been diagnosed with kung cancer and, as you've found, it affects the whole family.
As the online community is divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join the supporting someone with incurable cancer group which is a for friends and families of people with an incurable diagnosis to discuss their emotions and give and receive support.
To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could pop something about your mum's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.
x
