My mum has MDS and her usual treatment by taking tablets for 21 days then 7 days off isn't working anymore. She has just started a new treatment of 7 days of injections and 21 days off.  She has rung me this morning saying she feels sick. She has taken the anti sickness drug provided by the hospital, but I was just wondering what things she could eat or take alongside the anti sickness drug to make her feel abit better. I thought maybe ginger biscuits and dried toast. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Or any advice really to keep her spirits up while she's having this treatment.  Thank you xxxxx

  • Hi and a warm welcome to the online community

I'm sorry to read that your mum is feeling sick after her treatment.

The online community is divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join the MDS & MPN group which is a great place to ask your question, share experiences and get support.

To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could pop something about your mum's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.
