Hi Everyone,
I'm new to the group and also relatively new to being a cancer patient, having been diagnosed in May of this year. I need though for a second that the last 6 months of my life could change so completely. One day I was up a tree with a chainsaw working and the next I was struggling to cope with he fact that I had a large brain tumour. That explained the headaches at least! Following a successful 'lid-off' operation to remove the tumour I was subsequently diagnosed with Kidney/Renal cancer, which turned out to be the primary. More successful surgery to remove kidney and associated plumbing and here I am enduring immunotherapy, on the path to recovery. I've joined the forum(s) because like all of us I have so many questions, hopes and fears. I use humour as my main coping mechanism so forgive me the occasional funny line, joke or pun. Don't let this fool you however as I take my condition and those of my fellow sufferers very serious and empathise completely with the rigours of your individual journey. If I can help anyone on here though meaningful dialogue then I will have achieved something. Otherwise, pleased to meet you all.
Hi Archangel and welcome to the Online Community but so sorry to hear about the journey you are on but I do hope you will find lots of comfort and support from people who understand here on the Online Community.
I see you have been navigating around the various Community support groups and you may want to look through this list of our cancer specific groups as these groups are safe places to talk to other people who might have a similar diagnosis or treatment experience.
It’s always good to talk so do call the Macmillan Support Services on 0808 808 00 00 - most services are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week Clicking here to see what is available. This service provides lots of cancer information, emotional support, benefit and financial guidance or just a listening ear.
To find information covering diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers check our Online Information and Support Section.
Talking to people face to face can indeed help a lot but during these strange times it’s not that available but do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area has opened up. Do also check out for a local Maggie's Centre
Always around if you need further help in navigating the community.
All the very best ((hugs))
Thanks Mike! I’m still finding my feet with the group and will surely be looking around for further help and support plus contributing where I can. All the best. Mike
