Biopsy anxiety

Hi. I'm new here and feeling a bit of an imposter as I don't have a diagnosis yet. I have had an ultrasound this morning at the hospital. They found 6 nodules on my thyroid and I am being referred for biopsies. I am so worried and anxious for the future, particularly for my sons with autism who rely on me.

I think the fact there was six has scared me most. If anyone can reach out to me for a chat about how to deal with this anxiety and carry on as normal as possible, please. I would be most grateful xx

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community but I am so sorry to hear that you are going to have a biopsies on some nodules but I do hope you will find lots of comfort and support here on the Online Community.

I have had many biopsies over the years and these are tools to look for answers be it a type of cancer or not. On the whole my biopsies were rather straightforward

The Community has many dedicated support groups and I see you have joined and posted in our Thyroid cancer group. This is a safe place to talk to other people who might have a similar diagnosis or treatment experience.

Over my 22 years on my cancer journey the one thing I have learned is until you are told you have a problem you don’t, sounds simple but I have had lots of false alarms over the years and I do hope it’s the same for you

It’s always good to talk so do call the Macmillan Support Services on 0808 808 00 00 - most services are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week Clicking here to see what is available. This service provides lots of cancer information, emotional support or just a listening ear.

To find information covering diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers check our Online Information and Support Section

Always around if you need further help in navigating the community.

    All the very best ((hugs))

  • Thank you so much for messaging me. That's a really good way to look at it and I'm going to do my best to follow this.

    Thank you so much

  • I think it goes for every ache and pain that comes along. We can often try and search as much as we can to connect our problems to something that is serious but often it’s not that serious and let’s look for a straightforward answer for you.

Do use our support line as it’s good to talk things through ((hugs))
