Hi, sorry to bother you, I wasn't sure where to start or where to look for advice. Would anyone else have heard of or experienced a tear or leak in colon after low anterior resection surgery. I'm so so worried about my darling other half, he had serious infection in hospital but antibiotics treated. I'm so concerned at his rapid weight loss having lost 2.5 stone and continuing to lose weight at home despite eating regularly . He has ileostomy stoma working okay .  Not getting enough info from hospital and don't understand it all.  He's had  5 weeks with purulent drain not clearing. Surgeon now wants to flush colon? I'm so scared for him.

  • Hi and a warm welcome to the online community

I'm sorry to read that your partner has experienced a tear in their colon and it's natural to be worried.

I can see that you've joined the bowel (colon and rectal) cancer group which is a great places to ask questions, share experiences and get support. When you're ready to post there just click on the link I've created and you can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could pop something about your partner's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.
