My mum was diagnosed with secondary metastatic breast cancer in August it's been a battle and now she is on palliative care as its just a matter of time. My head is all over with mixed emotions as it's been a roller a coaster since her diagnosis.

Covid hasn't helped one bit, because a lot of this she was dealing with alone (as we weren't allowed in the hospital). My mum is Italian and their was a language barrier as she didn't understand a lot of what was being said to her. So to then explain all this second hadn't once were communicated with doctors has been tough too.

I am scared for the next few weeks and what's to come.

  • Hi and a warm welcome to the online community

I'm very sorry to read that your mum has recently been diagnosed with secondary breast cancer. It's natural to worry about what is to come so you might find this information from Macmillan helpful.

The online community is divided up into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the supporting someone with incurable cancer group which is a supportive place to discuss your emotions and ask questions.

To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could pop a little something about your mum's diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.
