Came through cancer once now maybe confronted with it again and I'm scared

In 2019 I was diagnosed with bile duct cancer within my liver, I had major surgery to remove 70%of my liver, and gall bladder then chemotherapy.

I've been well. Since then until recently discovering a large lump on my clavicle, I've seen my oncologist and I am awaiting a full body scan to determine what if anything is going on. To say I'm. Scared is an understatement, as have a husband and 2 children and I can't face putting them through the fear and worry again.

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community but I am so sorry to read about your ongoing health concerns but I hope you will find the support available on the community helpful.

In part I do understand where you are coming from as over my 22 years with my type of incurable blood cancer I have relapsed a good number of times. But we have always found the next treatment tool to use and at this point I have been in remission for 5 years, the longest period I have had so yes, this journey is challenging but there is lots of positives out there so let’s look for this not to be cancer.

At this point in time you just don’t know what this is but the community is divided up into different support groups so if you do find yourself on the cancer rollercoaster again have a look through this list and join the best group for the cancer type.

To join a group choose [Join] when the group page opens. A black box with text will also be visible so you can also join by clicking anywhere in that black box.

You can then introduce yourself by putting up a new post by clicking in the box near the top with + New(Computers) or + (Mobile Devices). You will then see a dropdown menu so why not hit ‘Start a Discussion in New here, say hello’

These not knowing times are hard so could I suggest you call the Macmillan Support Services on 0808 808 00 00 - most services are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week as this service provides lots of emotional support, cancer information or just a listening ear.

To find information covering diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers check our Online Information and Support Section

I am always around to chat or if you need further help in navigating the community.

    All the very best ((hugs))
