Am I the only person that just doesn’t want to go to bed? I’m a carer for my husband who has stage 4 brain tumour. I’m really struggling to cope mentally and I know it doesn’t make sense to fight sleep. I’m tired but it’s like Groundhog Day…I know that tomorrow will start the round of caring and supporting my husband  off again. I just don’t want to set the clock back to morning again.

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community but I am so sorry to read about your husbands diagnosis and the challenges you are dealing with but I do hope you will find the support available in the community helpful at this difficult and challenging time.

Talking with others who are walking the exact same type of cancer treatment support path will help you navigate this unwanted journey.

I am the one with the cancer but totally appreciate the journey my wife has had to face supporting me in my 22 years with an incurable blood cancer.

The New to Community is like the Community Reception area and as there are many cancer types and experiences so likewise the Community has many dedicated support groups and I see you have joined our supportive  Glioblastoma multiforme group as this will be a good place for you to connect with other folks who may be on the same cancer treatment support pathway.

Navigating the community will depend on the device you are using. To go to the group just click on the green link above then introduce yourself by putting up a post by clicking  on ‘New Thread’ or ‘New here, say hello’ then hit the box with the X on the top right (phones).

You could just copy and paste the text from this your first post and you can also join in with existing ‘Discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.

When it comes to the practical challenges of supporting someone you may benefit from talking with others caring for family and friends so can I recommend that you join our supportive Family and friends (I see you have joined) and our Carers only groups where you will connect with others supporting family and friends

It’s always good to talk so do call the Macmillan Support Services on 0808 808 00 00 - most services are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week Clicking here to see what is available. This service provides lots of cancer information, emotional support, benefit and financial guidance or just a listening ear.

    All the very best ((hugs))
