Hi,
Any advice welcome.
I've just got back from my Dads house and he shows me all this literature about Cancer that he got from the hospital yesterday after going in to get "bloods" done, he also showed me a prescription he's to get for a Chemo tablet called Capecitabine, I didn't even realise there was such thing. After reading about this tablet it seems to minimise/control, probably wrong choice of words but it tries to curb a risk of cancer growing. He's very vague about this subject and when I questioned it he just tries to swerve. I don't know what to do as with Covid he's been doing hospital/doctor appointments alone. I at a loss here. Has anyone else heard of these tablets or taken them.
Sorry if I have offended anyone or if I am on the wrong forum. Any advice welcome.
TIA
Hi and welcome to the Online Community. I am so sorry to read about your dad’s cancer diagnosis but I do hope you will find the support available in the community helpful at this difficult and challenging time.
Talking with others who are walking the exact same type of cancer support will help you navigate this unwanted journey.
Capecitabine is used to treat various types of cancer and the New to Community is like the Community Reception area and as there are many cancer types and experiences so likewise the Community has many dedicated support groups.
So have a look through this list and choose the appropriate group for your dad’s cancer type as these groups will be good places for you to connect with other folks who may be on the same cancer support pathway.
Navigating the community will depend on the device you are using. To join a group choose 'click to join' or 'join' on the page that opens.
You can then introduce yourself by putting up a post by clicking on ‘New Thread’ or ‘New here, say hello’ then hit the box with the X on the top right (phones).
You could just copy and paste the text from this your first post and you can also join in with existing ‘Discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.
When it comes to the practical challenges of supporting someone you may benefit from talking with others caring for family and friends so can I recommend that you join our supportive Family and friends group where you will connect with others supporting family and friends
