I was diagnosed with grade 3  invasive ductal carcinoma 5 years ago. It appears to have returned or at least never left! 5 years ago I had lumpectomy, chemo, radio etc. This time it will be a left breast mastectomy. Obviously really disappointed but it is what it is so need to prepare for surgery again. Been giving mastectomy a great deal of thought. My strong feeling is that I would prefer to have both breasts removed, not because of cancer, but because I know I wouldn't copy well being lopsided. Have large breasts so, as I understand it, difficult to have implants. Surgeon will discuss options with me in 2 weeks. Has anyone decided to have bi-lateral due to the problem I foresee above?
