Hi, I'm 3 weeks post diagnosis, worried sick that they didn't catch it early enough. Don't know who to talk to, it's ok telling your family, friends, and partner but nobody truly understands what it is I'm going through, nobody knows exactly what to say other then I'm sorry. I mean physically I feel absolutely fine, but it's my mental health that has taken a bit of a down spiral since being diagnosed.
Hi Tizzy10 and welcome to the Online Community.
I am so sorry to read about the journey you are on but I hope you will find the support available in the community helpful at this difficult and challenging time.
Talking with others who are walking the same type of cancer treatment path will help you navigate this unwanted journey.
The community is divided up into different support groups so you can have a look through this list and choose the appropriate one for you.
Navigating the community will depend on the device you are using. To join a group choose 'click to join' or 'join' on the page that opens.
You can then introduce yourself by putting up a post by clicking on ‘New Thread’ or ‘New here, say hello’ then hit the box with the X on the top right (phones).
You could just copy and paste the text from this your first post and you can also join in with existing ‘Discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.
It’s always good to talk so do call the Macmillan Support Services on 0808 808 00 00 - most services are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week Clicking here to see what is available. This service provides lots of cancer information, emotional support, financial guidance or just a listening ear.
To find information covering diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers check our Online Information and Support Section.
All the very best ((hugs))
Hi Tizzy, I’m newly diagnosed too (just 5 days ago). I am finding that although I am being offered support from friends & family, I find myself protecting them by hiding how i am feeling some of the time (sometimes I can’t help but show it). Feeling the pressure to stay upbeat.
Hope you are getting support for your mental health.
what stage are you with planning for treatment?
Hello, thank you for your reply, at the moment I'm really unsure where I am with any treatment as I have to have an ultrasound this coming week as the mri has shown a bright spot in the centre of the same breast as the lump. I'm sorry you are going though this, we are all here to help and support each other, think positive x
Hello HoseMonkey, how are you? Are you any closer to knowing about a treatment plan etc etc? I ended up with a selected single mastectomy (2 days post op), as the mri had pick up two bright spots which turned out to be pre cancerous and as the lump was stage 2 anyway I'd rather it be gone then have a lumpectomy and possibly having to keep going back if anymore grow. What stage/type of cancer have you got if you don't mind me asking, I have stage 2 HER 2 positive DCIS so effecting my milk ducts/glands and it went into my tissue a little also. I really hope you're ok. I'm always here to talk if you feel alone. Think positive.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
