Hi everyone

I've just lost my dad to Cancer and not only am I grieving but I'm also so angry.  His hospital appointments were cancelled during covid and by the time he finally got seen, his cancer had spread aggressively.  He was then told he had a matter of weeks to live, he died a month later. He'd had treatment before covid and it had been successful up until then.  I can't help thinking that perhaps, if his treatment had continued during covid, he might still be alive today? I don't know how to deal with both the grief and the anger.....

Hi, I've found that when you lose someone the anger is part of grief. I really feel for you , talk to someone outside the family may help.

Hi and thanks. I'm angry at the injustice. I've joined this group as I need to talk to someone other than my family.

It is very unfair, and sadly I dont think your dad will be the only one put in this situation.  It's still so very raw and horrific for you, it's hard to speak to those closest to you for fear of upsetting them, all I know is what you feel is 'normal' there is a whole host of emotions when you lose someone,  a real rollercoaster, you wont know how to deal with it, how could you you've not been there before. Cry, rage ,scream all normal , take time for yourself, the Macmillan counselors are good to talk to as well

    • Thank you. How do I get in touch with a counsellor? I think that might be good for me.

The hospital or hospice your dad was with should be able to point you in the right direction.  Remember your not alone, and I'm happy to chat.

Not during covid, but I lost my mum as a child, my sister 9 years ago and I've had breast cancer and more recently bowel cancer, so I kind of know how it feels. Keep going lovely you will get there, not straight away, in time thou.

    • My aunty had bowel cancer but she ignored it and sadly passed away. She was silly not to get help. I truly hope you get better and I really appreciate your kind words and advice.

You will get through this, one step at a time, be kind to yourself and talk to a counselor.
