Am in remission having had FCR treatment in 2020 (ended Dev 2020).

Looking to go on holiday next year, both a winter skiing holiday and a holiday in the sun - COVID permitting. Any help getting a reasonable insurance quote would be much appreciated.

  • Hi all just wanted to say hello I am Mike and this Cancer is a determined little bugger I have been having treatment for Head & Neck cancer 30 radiotherapy sessions and thought I was almost out of the woods then they tell me I have prostrate cancer between 7&9 on the scale so all being well I will have it removed on the 12th October not ideal but we live to fight another day.

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

I'm pleased to read that you're in remission and it sounds like you have a couple of great holidays planned. Unfortunately, it can be more difficult to find reasonably priced travel insurance when you have had a cancer diagnosis.

As the online community is divided up into different support groups can I recommend that you join us over in the travel insurance group where you can see recommendations from others who have successfully obtained travel insurance.

To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

Once you've joined the travel insurance group, look for the thread called 'recommended travel insurance', which is always on the first page of the discussions list, as it's where the majority of recommendations from other forum members are.

It's best to phone the insurance companies rather than try and do online quotes as often at the end of the online quote it will tell you to phone the company and you'll then have to go through all the information again. Also sometimes the broker can refer to the underwriters to see if they would provide cover when an online quote might just give you a straight refusal.
