My partner has grade 4 brain tumours. I am struggling and feel alone. I want to reach out to others for information understanding and any coping strategies
Hi and welcome to the online community
I'm very sorry to read that your partner has been diagnosed with brain cancer but you've come to the right place for information on this type of cancer along with coping strategies.
The online community is divided up into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the brain cancer group, which is a great place to ask questions and share experiences about treatment, and also the carers only group which is a safe and supportive place to share your worries and emotions.
To join these groups just click on the links I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could pop something about your partner's diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.
x
HI Peasy
so sorry to hear of your partner's diagnosis. It's a huge amount to take on board and process.
My own husband was diagnosed with a grade 4 brain tumour in early Sept 2020 so I can relate to the journey your are on.
As Latchbook says, there is brain cancer forum and carer's group but there is also the Glioblastoma multiforme brain tumour - Macmillan Online Community if that's appropriate for your situation. I've drawn a lot of support from all three over the past few months.
Happy for you to reach out to me anytime for support. I don't promise to have all the answers but I can understand how you are feeling. You don't mention if this is a recent diagnosis or not but I recall how overwhelmed I felt in those first few weeks. It's a rollercoaster ride.
As for coping strategies, I personally try not to stress about factors I can't control Easier said than done most days but I try. I find journaling very helpful as it lets you express your feelings and once you see them written down, quite often they don't seem quite so scary. Long walks also help. It's really important to take time for yourself here too.
sending you a huge virtual hug. Stay strong. You're doing so much better than you think you are (you'll just need to trust me on that)
love n hugs
Wee Me xx
