I had a successful lumpectomy in May 2020. And thought I had had a lucky escape from the big C.

I was shocked to find out in July this year that I have kidney cancer (totally unrelated to my previous breast cancer) and it was proposed that I would have the kidney out. They then discovered two lesions on my spine and sent me for a specific spine mri scan, from this they discovered it in my liver too.

After getting mentally ready to have my kidney out, I was told that that would not be happening and I would have to go down the medication route. I have now had a biopsy to find out what sort of kidney cancer I have so that they can decide on the best medication.

Still waiting....

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

I'm sorry to read that you've recently been diagnosed with kidney cancer and that you're waiting to find out what the treatment plan will be.

As the online community is divided up into different support groups can I recommend that you join the kidney cancer group which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support.

To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.
