hello everyone . I m 64 years old and on 31st August had a my first ever recall letter from a routine mammogram. I had to wait a nerve wracking 2 weeks before my appointment and I had more mammograms, an ultrasound and a core biopsy . They said I had Calcifications and it was 50 50 that this was a sign of early cancer. My husband and I had a holiday in Majorca booked for the following week so they booked results appointment for me for the day after we get back. I m very worried and have only told a few people . I haven’t told my 34 year old son anything as for now there is nothing to tell and I wouldn’t feel happy going away knowing he was worried. Will they tell us immediately when we get there what the results are. ? Will there be a breast care nurse present even if it’s good news? I just keep rewinding the imagined appointment over and over again. Will try to switch off when on holiday but it’s not easy .

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community.

I am so sorry to read about your ongoing diagnosis but I hope you will find the support available in the community helpful at this difficult and challenging time.

Talking with others who are walking the same type of cancer path (my one is completely different) will help you navigate this unwanted journey.

The New to Community is like the Community Reception area and as there are many cancer types and experiences so likewise the Community has many support groups but I see you have joined our supportive Breast cancer group as this will be a good place for you to connect with other folks who may be on the same cancer pathway.

Navigating the community will depend on the device you are using. To go to the group just click on the green link above then scroll down and choose 'click to join' or 'join' on the page that opens.

You can then introduce yourself by putting up a post by clicking  on ‘New Thread’ or ‘New here, say hello’ then hit the box with the X on the top right (phones).

You could just copy and paste the text from this your first post and you can also join in with existing ‘Discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.

It’s always good to talk so do call the Macmillan Support Services on 0808 808 00 00 - most services are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week Clicking here to see what is available. This service provides lots of cancer information, support, financial guidance or just a listening ear.

To find information covering diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers check our Online Information and Support Section

    All the very best ((hugs))

Hi again, thank you so much  for responding, I attempted to put the same post on the Breast cancer group but I may ( due to technical incompetence !) not have put it on there.. I ll try and follow the instructions on my computer rather than my phone .
