Hi I'm new here after being told on Monday that my husband has terminal cancer he has to go for more test to see if he can have chemo but it cant be cured I an devastated where hes very calm I no its early days but I feel I had to reach out to people that understand how I'm feeling I am my husband carer
Hi Caz221 and a warm welcome to the Online Community but I'm very sorry you find yourself here. I can understand your devastation, in the midst of this your husband is calm. Some cancers can't be cured but folk can live longer with palliative chemotherapy. You don't mention what cancer he's been diagnosed with so it would also be helpful to join the group covering the relevant cancer to swap experiences and chat.
I'm going to suggest you join our Supporting someone with incurable cancer group, where you'll be able to discuss your fears and feeling with others in the same position. I'm also tagging the Community Champions of the group Lowedal and JuiceStool who'll be along to chat.
It’s always helpful to others if you write a little something (or a lot) about yourself and your husband's journey to date. You can enter it into your profile (click on your username and select “Profile”) It’s helpful to other members with a similar diagnosis who can then hopefully answer your questions. It also means that you don't have to keep writing the same thing over and over. You can amend or update it at any time.
To find more information covering diagnosis and treatments there are pages covering most types of cancers which can be found on our Online Information and Support Section.
Macmillan Support Services also offer lots of information, support, financial guidance or just someone to listen. It’s free to call 0808 808 0000.
