Hallo to everyone on here I have been having treatment for Actinic Keratosis over the winter months Started with two on the back of my hand which TBH I hadn’t taken much notice of as practice nurse said nothing to worry about Eventually did consult with Doctor who prescribed Eufidix work brilliantly very good reaction and outcome Decided to see dermatologist privately for a whole body check he advised me to use cream on both lips chest and a couple of small patches on one leg and the back of hand. Anyone that has had Eufidix knows it is quite an aggressive treatment and although painful I knew it would get rid of AK The last area I treated was back of hand and when the normal progression of cream was over I was left with a small bump. Saw two separate GP’s who both said nothing to be concerned about one thought another AK and he froze it Nothing happened so went back to private dermatologist who said it was so inflamed he could not tell if a non melanoma skin cancer so has done biopsy I am now filled with anxiety and waiting for result . I have only had the bump a few weeks so guessing even if SCC or BCC it is early days He did say he had removed 95% at the biopsy  Just needed to vent as I am driving my whole family nuts Sorry for such a long post on something fairly common place to what so many members are coping with

  • Hi and welcome to the online community

I'm sorry to read that after being treated for actinic keratosis you have an area that needs further investigation. It's always worrying when you notice something has changed on your skin but you've done the right thing in arranging to speak to your GP.

I can see that you've already found and joined the skin cancer group which I'm sure you'll find is a great place to ask questions ,share experiences and get support.

When you're ready to introduce yourself there just start a new post in the same way as you did here. To save you typing this all out again just copy and paste it into your new posts.

It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
