After my op (abt five weeks ago) I seemed to be coping well,  up the last couple of weeks I seem to be permanently in tears, plus I have developed a seroma, which I have been assured is fairly. Irma, and will disappear in time.  How do other people cope, I feel I should be stronger

  • Hi and a warm welcome to the Online Community. It often hits us some weeks after surgery and we become blubbering wrecks - I assume it's just a total outage of emotions, weeks of tests, waiting for results then surgery. It's not surprising if we blow a gasket - we all cope in different ways, becoming isolated, ranting or crying it's human nature - you've joined the right place to get support and realise you're not alone!

I have to confess I had to look up seroma as it's a term I'm not familiar with, I myself have Womb Cancer, I've now made the connection so I'm going to suggest you join our supportive Breast cancer group where you'll be able to chat to other members on the same type of cancer journey.

It’s always helpful to others if you write a little something (or a lot) about yourself and your journey to date. You can enter it into your profile (click on your username and select “Profile”) It’s helpful to other members with a similar diagnosis who can then hopefully answer your questions. It also means that you don't have to keep writing the same thing over and over. You can amend or update it at any time.

Macmillan Support Services also offer lots of information, support, financial guidance or just someone to listen. It’s free to call 0808 808 0000. Most services are available 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week. Have a look by Clicking here to see what is available and we also have our Ask an Expert section, but do allow two to three working days for replies from our expert team.

Sending you welcoming hugs B xx
