Hi
I went to the breast clinic and had scans under the 2 week referral the ultrasound was clear but the consultant felt 3 lumps and I went on for a mammogram which I am yet to find out about but was told the results would go to my doctor in writing and I would receive a letter. However I have just been given a telephone call with the consultant next Wednesday and I am now wondering if this means all good news as otherwise surely bad news would be face to face, I know nobody will be able to tell me my news. But has anyone had bad news on the phone?
Hi and welcome to the Online Community but so sorry to hear about your ongoing diagnosis.
Covid has brought some unfortunate changes as to how things are done. Up with us in the Highlands telephone consultations have been part of life for year way before Covid and I myself have received challenging results over a call.
A cancer diagnosis can be very challenging but talking with others who are walking the same type of cancer treatment journey will help you navigate this difficult time.
The New to Community is like the Community Reception area and as there are many cancer types and experiences so likewise the Community has many support groups so can I recommend you start of by joining our supportive Breast cancer group as this will be a good place for you to connect with other folks who may be on the same cancer treatment pathway.
Navigating the community will depend on the device you are using. To join a group just click on the green link above then scroll down and choose 'click to join' or 'join' on the page that opens.
You can then introduce yourself by putting up a post by clicking on ‘New Thread’ or ‘New here, say hello’ then hit the box with the X on the top right (phones).
You could just copy and paste the text from this your first post and you can also join in with existing ‘Discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.
It’s always good to talk so do call the Macmillan Support Services on 0808 808 00 00 - most services are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week Clicking here to see what is available. This service provides lots of cancer information, nurse team support, financial guidance or just a listening ear.
We also have Cancer Nurse Team in our Ask an Expert section, but do allow two working days for replies from our expert team.
To find information covering diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers check our Online Information and Support Section.
All the very best ((hugs))
Thank you Mike, sorry to hear that you have had bad news this way. I guess I just have to wait until Wednesday and see! Thank you
I will say that I also have had lots of very encouraging news over my 22 years.
The geography of our area could mean a 6-7 hour round trip just for a 15min appointment.
Do connect with the Breast Cancer group as you can talk to people who most likely have been in the same position and find out the questions you need to be asking ((hugs))
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
