I’m new to this site so just learning how to find my way around. My Dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer nearly 6 years ago and was told he’d already had it for approximately 10 years already! He is now in stage 4 metastatic. Just recently he has had pain in his hips so I am assuming the worst but still trying to stay positive-not easy-he seems to be losing his appetite and really struggling to eat, also feeling very nauseous, although it’s not surprising having a stomach full of tablets and very little food. I’m just telling him to eat what he feels like if he doesn’t want to eat s full cooked dinner. Is it normal t this stage to lose appetite  and feel sick all the time? And what can I do to try to get him to eat?

  • Hi and welcome to the online community

I'm sorry to read that your dad has recently been suffering with pain in his hips and it's natural that you're fearing the worse-case scenario.

As the online community is divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join the prostate cancer group which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support.

To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could pop something about your dad's diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.
