I thought writing this may help in some way.
2003 Mum passed away with secondary breast cancer. 2005 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and after lumpectomy, chemo, radiotherapy, herceptin I was cancer free and further medication, all treatment ended in 2017.
Not a day goes by where I am not reminded of the worst scenario but also how lucky to have come through it.
Last year I found a lump below my ear. Nothing to do with my previous cancer, but it was a rare cancer of the parotid gland. June this year, I had the lump removed along with my tonsils and selective neck dissection and again, lucky to have had all cancer removed.
I have been left with mild facial palsy on one side.
It’s early days, and I have already seen small improvement but....
Sometimes, staying positive is hard. I try to for my family and myself. Mostly I think I am managing, but it can be overwhelming at times and from nowhere I become anxious tearful.
Making decisions are difficult. everything seems to be changing and I can’t keep up.

When you have so many bumps in the road I can totally understand the challenges of finding positivity but talking with other who are out the other end of treatment and trying to navigate’life’ may help you.
The New to Community is like the Community Reception area and as there are many cancer types and experiences so likewise the Community has many support groups so can I recommend you start of by joining our supportive Life after cancer group as this will be a good place to connect with folks who may be on the same pathway.
