Hi all I am just after some reassurance I guess really I hope you don’t mind.
I am 47 started menopause in April 2019 had a smear June 2020 which was all clear. I then had a few months of a little bit of spotting but thought nothing of it and have had cramps periodically but again put it down to going through the menopause. Then 4 weeks ago I had a big bleed lasted 4 days. I thought it was strange but convinced myself it’s all part and parcel as menopause can take years. I mentioned this to a friend who said go and see the doctor.
The doctor examined me and asked a few questions then said we need to get you seen by specialist within two weeks you have symptoms that could be cancer.
I am extremely tired continually my bowel habits have changed from every 2 or 3 days to daily sometimes more than once, I am urinating more and I am getting cramps and lower back ache.
I have an appointment for the gynaecologist on Friday and am starting to get nervous will they confirm or exclude cancer straight away ?
Thank you for reading
Hi ,
Sorry to hear that your so anxious . This is to be expected.
They will need to do a biopsy before cancer is confirmed. They do a scan internally to see if you have fibroids/ thickening of the womb . If further tests are required then they do a hysterscopy and from there they can tell if it’s cancer or not.
please take one step at a time, don’t think the worse. Xx
Thank you for replying, I can relax off knowing that there are things to be done first and not stress over Friday.
Hi and welcome to the online community
We all know how horrible waiting for tests and results are but you've come to the right place for support while you're going through this.
The online community is divided up into different support groups so I wonder if you could tell me what type of cancer your GP thinks you might have so I can direct you to the right group where you can ask questions, share experiences and get support.
Alternatively you could look through this list and join the right one for you. Once you've joined you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversation by clicking on the 'reply' button.
It would be great if you could pop something about your journey to this point into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.

Hi Latchbrook thank you for the welcome I feel a little like a fraud as you beautiful people have been through so much and I haven’t even been diagnosed. It’s just as you would all know as soon as cancer is mentioned as a possibility the mind runs riot.
My Gp didn’t say specifically what cancer she suspected just that I was exhibiting several symptoms and she could see a discharge that she was concerned with. She initially said about an urgent referral then said that it must be within 2 weeks. I assumed uterine.
Xx
You're definitely not a fraud . Lots of people pass through here who are waiting for a diagnosis and, thankfully, for lots of them it isn't cancer. However, I do understand the worry you'll be feeling right now so it's good to join a group and talk to others.
Clicking here will take you to the womb (uterus) cancer group where you'll find others, like you, who are waiting for tests or the results of tests. Hopefully, your symptoms will turn out to have a benign cause but, if not, there'll be plenty of support on hand.
