My dads was diagnosed with inoperable small bowel cancer just under 8 weeks ago a total shock as fit well and active up until then. He is at home but his condition this week has got worse rapidly this week to the point we have Macmillan end of life care nurse coming today. I am absolutely terrified of him dying I am trying my best to stay strong for mum but feel overcome with immense sadness and anger that my dads life has been cut short we still had many plans. I am trying to hide my immense sadness from him but inside feel totally broken I cry bucket loads when I am not with him. I have read about anticipatory grief and wonder if anyone feels the same and can share any advice
Hi and welcome to the Online Community but so sorry to hear about your dad's diagnosis. This must have come as such a shock and I don't think there is a right way to deal with this.
I think that you may find talking with others who are walking the same type of cancer support journey (my one is completely different) will help you navigate this difficult time.
The New to Community is like the Community Reception area and as there are many cancer types and experiences so likewise the Community has many support groups so can I recommend you start of by joining our supportive Carers only and Supporting someone with incurable cancer groups where you will connect with others supporting family and friends
To join a group just click on the link above then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens.
You can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘New Thread’ or hit the box with the X on the top right (phones), you could just copy and paste the text from this your first post. You can also join in with existing ‘Discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.
