My mum has been given 3-4months max. she lives with me and whilst I'm very capable on a practical level an I am absolutely terrible at the hand holding emotional support. I am so scared at what the next few months will bring and no idea how we will manage. any advice welcome
Hello and welcome to the community, although really sorry to hear of your mum. I have been in similar situations with both my mum and my wife's mum and know how hard it is. Firstly, it is difficult to do it alone and there is help out there. Your mum's GP should refer you to the local council social services who can provide aids such as a commode, bathing help, handrails and other things. I would also recommend you phone the Mac free helpline. They will let you know what help you are entitled to, both financial and practical . 0808 808 0000 ( 8-8pm). Could I also suggest you join the Carers Only Group . There you will get help, support and advice from others caring for loved ones. Click the highlighted link to get to the group.
