Hi Everyone
I am 71 years female living in Suffolk. I am normally very active and one of my hobbies is cooking. I enjoy family get together and cruises but I guess the latter wil have to be put on hold until I am able to do so.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I have had the lump completely removed via an operation in June. My lymph nodes came back, great I thought, my body is now cancer free so maybe I'll only need radiotherapy. However on further investigation it was ascertained that my lump was triple negative breast cancer which is grade 3. I was told that I would need treatment which would involve chemotherapy, radiotherapy and a drug called bisphosphonate. This has thrown me and I now need to make a decision on whether to go ahead with the treatment of take a chance and live without the treatment. I really don't know what to decide. Is there any helpful words of encouragement. I realise that the final decision is mine but I still feel lost. Many thanks
Hi Lory21 and welcome to the Online Community but so sorry to hear about your diagnosis and ongoing issues.
A cancer diagnosis can be very challenging but talking with others who are walking the same type of cancer treatment journey could help you navigate this difficult time.
The New to Community is like the Community Reception area and as there are many cancer types and experiences so likewise the Community has many support groups and I see you have already joined our supportive Triple negative breast cancer group as this would be a good place to connect with folks who may be on the same cancer treatment pathway.
To to go to the group just click on the link above then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘New Thread’ or hit the box with the X on the top right (phones), you could just copy and paste the text from this your first post. You can also join in with existing ‘Discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.
It’s always good to talk so do call the Macmillan Support Services on 0808 808 00 00 - most services are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week Clicking here to see what is available. This service provides lots of cancer information, support, financial guidance or just a listening ear.
We also have Cancer Nurse Team in our Ask an Expert section, but do allow two working days for replies from our expert team.
To find information covering diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers check our Online Information and Support Section.
All the very best ((hugs))

Hi again Lory21, over my long years it’s important to define how we live with our cancer and not let it define us.
Every cancer journey requires a degree of determination as there is never an easy journey.
Each cancer type brings very different challenges and talking with others who are walking the same journey can help you navigate these times.
I wish you well for the future and you will always see me around the Community if you want to chat more ((hugs))
