Hi, I’m new to this community and have just this morning had my two week, on the phone, follow up from lumpectomy. Seems that there’s something too near the margins so I’m now down for further surgery at the end of august.

Having survived the long climb back from first a heart attack and then two burst brain aneurysms causing weeks in icu, then rehab, the covid situation left me shielding from a year last March. After our jabs we were going to live again. See friends, go out and hug the grandchildren have a holiday. The recent breast cancer diagnosis meant having to shield again so that I could make sure I was covid free to get the surgery. I can’t believe today’s situation, that it’s now going to be shielding again. I feel like a toddler and want to throw my toys out of my pram then cry my eyes out. Life love and family seem so out of reach again.

Forgive me but I just felt the need to vent. I know it could be much worse and many of you know that personally. I just feel so tired.

  • Words aren't enough! I hope you can stay strong after all you've been through. Scream and shout if it helps or do whatever it takes!

Try to stay strong and take care of yourself.  Life seems so unfair at times. x

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community but so sorry to hear about your diagnosis and ongoing issues.

A cancer diagnosis can be very challenging but talking with others who are walking the same type of cancer treatment journey will help you navigate this difficult time.

The New to Community is like the Community Reception area and as there are many cancer types and experiences so likewise the Community has many support groups so can I recommend you start of by joining our supportive Breast cancer group as this will be a good place to connect with folks who may be on the same cancer treatment pathway.

To join a group just click on the link above then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens.

You can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘New Thread’ or hit the box with the X on the top right (phones), you could just copy and paste the text from this your first post. You can also join in with existing ‘Discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.

It’s always good to talk so do call the Macmillan Support Services on 0808 808 00 00 - most services are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week Clicking here to see what is available. This service provides lots of cancer information, support, financial guidance or just a listening ear.

We also have Cancer Nurse Team in our Ask an Expert section, but do allow two working days for replies from our expert team.

To find information covering diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers check our Online Information and Support Section

    All the very best ((hugs))
