I am feeling lonely and I guess there are other people out there who feel the same. Chemotherapy is hard going but I've come too far to give up. If you feel lonely too you are not alone

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community but so sorry to hear about your cancer diagnosis. Going through cancer treatment can indeed be a lonely experience, even surrounded by family and friends it still can be hard as often the people close to you just don’t understand what it’s like.

I have been on my cancer journey for over 22 years now with multiple treatments and yes, even when the journey gets hard you don’t give up.

The New to Community is like the Community Reception area and as there are many cancer types and experiences so likewise the Community has many cancer specific support groups.

You don’t say what type of cancer you have, if you want to tell me what type of cancer you are being treated for I can give you a direct link to that group.

Alternatively you can look through this list and choose the appropriate one for you and the second list is for our various other Cancer experience groups.

To join a group just click on the link above then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens.

You can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘New Thread’ or hit the box with the X on the top right (phones), you could just copy and paste the text from this your first post. You can also join in with existing ‘Discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.

It’s always good to talk so do call the Macmillan Support Services on 0808 808 00 00 - most services are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week Clicking here to see what is available. This service provides lots of cancer information, support, financial guidance or just a listening ear.

We also have Cancer Nurse Team in our Ask an Expert section, but do allow two working days for replies from our expert team.

To find information covering diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers check our Online Information and Support Section

    All the very best ((hugs))

  • Hi again  and sorry to hear that the tumour had not shrunk and you did not have a good experience….. these are the bumps in the road that have to be navigated.

I see you have joined our very supportive Breast cancer group. You will find talking with others who are walking the same type of cancer journey can help you a lot.

So do go to the group by clicking on the link above then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘New Thread’ or hit the box with the X on the top right (phones), you could just copy and paste the text from this your first post. You can also join in with existing ‘Discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.
