Hello all this is all very alien to me so I hope you will bear with me. I was diagnosed during lockdown after neumorous tests and scans including octreotide scan. My case has been discussed several times at the multidiciplinary meetings in Belfast trust. The last discussion a colon tumor was confirmed but thankfully no spread to other organs. The decision was made to continue with watchful waiting and follow up scans to check for changes. The past 7 days I have had very bad diarrea with abdominal and back pain and some vomiting. Today I have had sudden vaginal bleeding which has shocked me as not only am I post menopausal I had a hysterectomy 20 years ago although I still have my ovaries. Is this something I should contact my Dr about or am I worrying about it unnecessarily. Because of the pandemic I feel like i am just floating around in mid air not really knowing what I should expect or what I should be concerned about. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated . I apologise for the long post but I haven't really spoken to anyone about it because it doesn't feel real to me yet...  my last scans were in April this year.

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community but so sorry to hear about your diagnosis.

First you should always contact your medical professionals when you are having challenges like this, never leave anything to chance.

A cancer diagnosis can be very challenging but talking with others who are walking the same type of cancer journey (my one is completely different) will help you navigate this difficult time.

The New to Community is like the Community Reception area and as there are many cancer types and experiences so likewise the Community has many cancer specific support groups so can I recommend you join our supportive Bowel (colon and rectum) cancer group as this will be a good place to connect with folks on the same cancer treatment pathway.

To join a group just click on the link above then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens.

You can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘New Thread’ or hit the box with the X on the top right (phones), you could just copy and paste the text from this your first post. You can also join in with existing ‘Discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.

It’s always good to talk so do call the Macmillan Support Services on 0808 808 00 00 - most services are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week Clicking here to see what is available. This service provides lots of cancer information, support, financial guidance or just a listening ear.

We also have Cancer Nurse Team in our Ask an Expert section, but do allow two working days for replies from our expert team.

To find information covering diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers check our Online Information and Support Section

    All the very best ((hugs))
