Thank you for letting me join, my name is Karen I had melanoma in 2019 which was removed with no further treatment just follow up appointments every 3 months. I June a few days after my check up I found a hard lump quite big under my arm, low down and not far from the melanoma scar. i rang the cancer nurse and they saw my straight away, long story short had all the biopsies, scans etc., and its come back as cancer. I am self isolating next week ready for it to be removed on the 31st. At this stage they are not sure what cancer it is as the likelyhood of it being from the melonoma is very rare as I also had my lymph nodes removed at the time.....anyone else had a similar experience ? I'm a very positive person so I'm fine although would be daft to say I dont have some concerns.....
Hi Karen and welcome to the Online Community but so sorry to hear about your ongoing investigations.
A second cancer can be very challenging but talking with others who are walking the same type of cancer journey (my one is completely different) will help you navigate this difficult time.
The New to Community is like the Community Reception area and as there are many cancer types so likewise the Community has many cancer specific support groups so can I recommend you first join our supportive Melanoma group as this will be a good place to connect with folks who may have been on the same cancer treatment pathway.
To join a group just click on the link above then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens.
You can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘New Thread’ or hit the box with the X on the top right (phones), you could just copy and paste the text from this your first post. You can also join in with existing ‘Discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.
It’s always good to talk so do call the Macmillan Support Services on 0808 808 00 00 - most services are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week Clicking here to see what is available. This service provides lots of cancer information, support, financial guidance or just a listening ear.
