hi, I've lived with a colostomy stoma for ten years now and know how scary anf fraught it can be especially at the beginning. Living with a stoma does become part of your norm, believe it or not.
I can do most things non ostimists can do - including holding down a full time job, paragliding, and having a full and active life.
i'd be happy to share advice or information.
Kath
Hi Kath and a very warm welcome to the online community
That's great to hear how well you've adapted to living with a stoma and that you'd like to share your experiences with others.
The community is divided up into different support groups so I'd recommend that you join the ileostomy, colostomy and stoma support group where you can share experiences with others and give and receive support.
To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far in your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.

I can't work out how to get linked in - I'm an IT dinosaur. Is there any way it can be made even easier?
Thank you
Kath

"don't think about tomorrow"
Hi KathH2
No problem.
To go to the group just click on the words 'ileostomy, colostomy and stoma support group' that are in bold green in my first reply to you.
Then on the page that opens select 'click to join' or 'join', depending on the device you're using. You'll then be a member of the group which means that you can start a new post by clicking on + New and reply to other posters by clicking on 'reply'.
