Hi all. So This is my first post and Don’t really know what I am doing as also my first time joining any type of forum.

A few weeks ago I was diagnosed with Invasive lobular breast cancer.

This came as a bit of a shock as I went in to have a lump checked out in my right breast, which turned out to be a cyst and cancer was found in my left breast.

On the plus side it turns out it has been caught early and the plan is a lumpectomy rather than a mastectomy, which I had fully prepared myself for as my mum had a mastectomy almost 4 years ago after finding out she had DCIS.

The nurse says this would be followed by 5 sessions of radiotherapy for definite but what’s not definite is if another surgery will be needed or chemotherapy. They say they will know more once the tumor is removed.

My op isn’t for another 5 weeks yet and the wait isn’t doing my anxiety level any good. I wish I could relax more but all the information is swimming around in my head and the not knowing if I could be finished with treatment in a couple of months or could it go on longer and how much longer.

I am a bit of a control freak and like to know everything now but I know that’s not possible and just need to try and not think about it for the next few weeks.

Any tips on how I can take my mind of it or anyone in the same situation?

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community

I'm very sorry to read that you have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and although I had a different type of cancer to you I can totally understand how you're feeling at the moment.

I can see that you've found and joined the breast cancer group which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support. When you feel ready to post there clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there where you could copy and paste your post from here into a new post there.

It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far in your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.
